Key Responsibilities and Purpose

The primary responsibility of the Facilities Maintenance Technician is to safely perform machine maintenance efficiently by ensuring requisite supplies are present before a task begins, following standard operating procedures, working with OEM technical support, and drawing schematics or blue prints to replace or repair broken parts in order to return the equipment to its original capability.

This position also requires the employee to:

  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Frequently pick up supplies from local vendors
  • Frequently work in high voltage areas as trained
  • Occasional travel to other facilities as needed
  • Obtain a GSM forklift certification
  • Maintain a current driver’s license

Other responsibilities include:

  • Dismantling, cutting, threading, straightening, reshaping, sharpening, replacing, attaching, and re-assembling equipment
  • Responding, diagnosing, and repairing constrained and essential equipment as soon as a disruption or malfunction is detected and reported; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week service
  • Tracking machine uptime metrics and reporting performance to the Plant Manager
  • Communicating reactive or preventive maintenance performed, supplies used, and time associated with the completed work using a computerized system and standard operating procedures
  • Communicating and addressing safety issues immediately ,as discovered, by collaborating with Plant Manager, Scheduler, supervisors, engineers, and operators
  • Performing minor plumbing, carpentry, assembly, cleaning, and facility repair assignments (i.e. floor repair, roof repair, snow removal, beautification of campus as trained and assigned)
  • Assisting in equipment implementation and installation
  • Maintaining an organized and labeled spare parts inventory area
  • Exhibiting exemplary safety habits in all work assignments ( i.e. proper PPE)
  • Working with computerized infrastructure equipment to monitor compressor, HVAC, lighting, and environmental controls
  • Acquiring and maintaining operational knowledge of all Profiling and Bending Equipment
  • Researching and maintaining the knowledge base required to repair and maintain the production equipment
  • Analyzing electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics to resolve issues that prevent equipment from operating at optimum conditions.
  • Perform lock out tag out procedure to ensure safety of all employees
  • Developing the preventative maintenance schedules for new equipment
